Description

Horizontal format folding camera, with wood interior and maroon bellows. Wooden body with aluminium back.

The Folding Hawk-Eye cameras were produced in a number of sizes, designated by the number allocated in the name (e.g. No 3, No 4) and/or model number. The horizontal format was common in this period. Compare this camera with the Kodak Folding Brownie cameras or the similar cameras from Ansco such as the Ansco No 9.

Internal condition of this example is very good; there is some wear to the leather on the front right face, though still suitable for display. The leather also shows edge wear. The camera bears a supplier label on the top face: Geo H Kahn, 105 Montgomery St., San Francisco.

The red window has been repaired / replaced. It is currently held in place by tape from inside. The handle is intact.
