Description

Premium Camera for The Standard Tobacco Co. Ltd. London. Original orange ENSIGN carton used to supply the camera, which identifies The Standard Tobacco Company as the source.

Date of 5 July 27 is stamped on the box over an original sixpenny stamp. The address label on the same end of the carton is to an address in South Hackney, London.

The handle is a little dry and worn, but intact. The covering on the camera body is sound, but the rear access door is slightly warped. It has a nice clear film label inside the rear door.

Notes

This is one of several common box cameras that were made by Houghton-Butcher for use as premium cameras. For example, compare it to the "J-B" Ensign.
